The fifth and last race of the Portuguese National Electric Touring Car Championship took place on September 4th at the Maiorca track near Figueira da Foz. There were only 13 drivers in Modified and 11 in Stock (13,5T), but nevertheless the race was a tough battle until the last, especially in Modified with the reappearance of top driver Ruben Francisco.

In Modified the day started badly for Hugo Miguel with a short-circuited speed controller, causing him to miss two qualifying heats. Rúben and Joao where the men to beat and they were driving insanely fast. At the end of the qualifying rounds, Rúben Francisco took top spot on the grid! The ballistic Joao Malveiro took 2nd spot with the fastest lap of the day at 15.842sec. Hugo Miguel secured 3rd place with his XRAY T3´11 SpeedPassion-powered car.
After lunch â“ prepared by the Maiorca Staff â“ things were ready for the finals. Being the last race of the championship, everybody raced as hard as they could, turning all heats in both classes into breathtaking battles!

In Modified, the finals were intense with very close driving between some drivers. Just a small driving mistake and cars would go rocketing out of bounds! In the end RĂşben got 1st place showing he is back at the highest level, being the only man to break the 18-lap barrier by recording 19 laps in 5:14.717. The anticipated 2011 National Champion Hugo Miguel wanted BADLY to get to the top spot, but he couldnâ™t do better than 2nd place. Joao Malveiro fought hard and grabbed the honourable 3rd spot!
Finally I would like to thank the organization who brought a spectacular race, my sponsor Mr. Bento and Mr. Goncalo Alves from GatekRacing (SpeedPassion), and Mr. Joao Martinho for lending me a speed controller!!! and in general, everybody that took part in yet another amazing race under our beautiful sunshine! Last but not least a special thanks goes to XRAY for building a very high quality and performing model race car.
